This is not Carlsbad overreacting, these are business owners who have been closed em for months with little to no help from Carlsbad. They finally reopen to have the possible chance of loosing everything again.
The businesses who haven’t boarded up, are the ones who are careless of their businesses.

Carlsbad has been laidback and non Chaka this about everything except beach parking, the only bit of tyranny they’re willing to put their foot down.

I am a business owner in the village and I understand why so many people have boarded up their business. It may be an over reaction but my business is my livelihood. If my property is destroyed, I have no way to get back in business. We were just closed down for 2 months. All our saving went to pay bills during that time.

It is not the protesters that we fear. It is the people with alterior motives that are acting while the protests are happening that we fear.

As a business owner, I am more comfortable being safe than being sorry.

Any parent who takes or encourages their kids to go a potentially violent “protest” should refocus on their priorities in life. Virtue signaling should not be among them.

If this thing goes lawless, I hope the police have their priorities in order, too.

I understand the worry that businesses have and they have every right to protect themselves. I would have personally spray-painted messages of support of the movement on the boards, in a sign of solidarity with peaceful protests. We know there has been infiltration of many peaceful protests by opportunists and violent aggressors. BLM does not support the destruction and burning of innocent businesses and is NOT a “terrorist organization” as someone replied. Beyond that, The insinuation that you will have to fight BLM protestors shows your ignorance of the matter in the first place. 3 days of protests is not going to ruin our city— it will bring us together. Go check out a protest and see how diverse and unified they are in the battle against police brutality and for justice in an unjust world.

Where are all the Marines? There are enough Marines in Carlsbad with firearms that vowed to defend America against enemies foreign and domestic! People are being murdered and cities destroyed by these “protests”. There’s plenty of evidence that these are DOMESTIC ENEMIES!

Be an Oathkeepers. I’ll be reaching out to a few buddies to see what’s planned.

I agree with Michelle, there are the opportunists at every protest, they are not there because they care, they are there to destroy and create mayhem just for the heck of it and also to steal whatever they can. Business owners who have boarded up are the smart ones and unlike other cities, Carlsbad had a heads up to be prepared., so take advantage of that fail-safe and keep our village and our communities unaccessible. I heard they are planning to be around the company stores too who hopefully have prepared just incase. Stay safe out there folks.

This is not over reacting is fear to loose what they been able to save due to the Corina virus closing of commerce. And that is nothing compared to what damage the Oportunista to create more hate and division are doing, is not the Peaceful protesters is those that what it to make them look bad those that get paid to create such horrific vandalism.
I don’t blame for business owners for boarding up
But it scares me to imagine what hate can cause

Things can be replaced, people can’t.

Proud that my community has been proactive during this time of unrest. I totally support the boarding up of your livelihoods. Maybe Antifa and the other thugs will go try to destroy America elsewhere! Its not about race and police any longer…It’s about destroying America!!
