As a kid growing up in the middle class and in Carlsbad, the beach was my second home, my babysitter and my playground. The cost was only as much as a jug of water, a bag of grapes and a few sandwiches. My family would pack up the Suburu early each morning and we would often be the first to plant an umbrella and take the day’s first dip. The hours ran wild with boogie boarding, lagoon exploring and drip castles.
Today, I live only blocks from where I grew up. I still frequent the same beaches and pedal my bike along the same coastal stretch. As my passion for art grows, my story builds. I often find myself creating projects which first grew roots during my childhood.
“…dripping beach sand or paint, these are the stories that fill my book…”
