A paycheck might be too small and a car might run too slow. A dog might bark too often and your jalopy might need a tow.
An upstairs neighbor might wear high heels late into the night and an ocean might sleep long with waves out of sight.
A neighboring building might encroach on your view and June gloom might tease like an unwanted rue.
UpState construction might dig way too long and your mind might replay that catchy and unwanted song.
When irritations scatter your day from start to end and your night drags on like and email that won’t send.
When your blood boils hot and your hair begins to thin, stand back and open your eyes, remember where you are livin’.
Look at these shady village streets and the places you go, remind yourself that you live in Carlsbad… a village paradise at the end of a rainbow.
What do you love about living in Carlsbad?
Love that poem. And, the picture that accompanies it is wonderful 🙂
We have one of the most incredible downtown Villages in all of Southern California! It has something for everyone; from Art Galleries to Botique stores, to Restaurants/Bars and Hair Salons. If you want to feel the pulse of the Village, spend some time eating at Al’s, Don’s, Grand Deli or Hennesey’s for breakfast and you will hear the locals talk about everything from politics to how the surf is. You can take Salsa lessons at Ocean House or grab fresh veggies at the Farmer’s Market.
Our Village is unique. If we continue to show how much value it has by continuing redevelopment, moving forward with the proposed Skate Museum and Action Arts Center and supporting our local merchants with events and promotions, we will continue to have a successful and thriving destination for southern californians and visitors from across the globe!

Haha – like an unwanted Rue, eh? Also – like an unwanted song that sticks in your head (played ever tuesday at the Cantina ’till your dead) – and the picture is a rainbow like my profile. It’s pretty weird how many coincidences this poem / photo has with my life. I dig it.
