Snyder’s newest installation coming to Carlsbad Aug. 17

On Saturday, August 17, Carlsbad based artist Bryan Snyder will be installing his next public art installation titled ‘Doodle’s Umbrella’ at Cafe Ground Up in the Carlsbad Village.

Snyder’s upcoming installation will include a painted Doodle character, a halved umbrella specifically created for this installation and real flowers growing out of flower pots placed on top of the umbrella.

“The growing flowers are an important part of this installation,” Snyder said. “Without the community’s engagement, the flowers—and the artwork as it is intended—can not survive.”

Shortly after installation, Snyder will begin inviting the community to water the flowers with a specific water can located behind the counter of Cafe Ground Up.

“The benefits of public art are widespread including stimulating local economic growth,” Snyder said. “One of the goals of this project is to introduce the community to one of the Village’s newest businesses.”

All photos posted to Instagram and tagged @SnyderArt and #DoodlesUmbrella will automatically be entered to win an original painting by Snyder. The winner will be chosen through a raffle format at a later date.

Snyder’s projects in the last two months include a giant shark installation, a mural at Legoland, restoring a historic mural in the Carlsbad Barrio, a Carlsbad themed mural on the Carlsbad Art Wall and mural at the Dollhouse Boutique.
