Connecting Minds

A foreign idea is like an unwanted weed that somehow slipped through the fingers of a stiff rake. The timid outsider intensifies with each day and soon motivates others to plant their own seed. The rich soil of an expressive community represents a nutrient laden foundation for artistic growth. Time is measured in the number of minds where the loud shriek of an unwanted alarm remains silent as long as ideas are shared. Soon the once insipid garden of manicured boredom blossoms with uncontrollable creativity and wild expression, fueled by ideas as animated as a drunken bee. Loose vines and vibrant flowers intertwine roots and overlap leaves like the gestural lines of Jackson Pollock. The fear of criticism and failure is eliminated, allowing ideas to flow like the village’s gutters after the season’s first rain. Cluttered basements and stuffy attics continue to be the artist’s studio, but only as a forum to create; where the streets, restaurants and coffee shops become the stage. An emotionless handshake and a stale greeting becomes an inspiring exchange of lofty dreams and ranting theories.

Where have you seen ideas shared? What provoked those people to propagate their beliefs?
