Help build an Interview

the-artist-interview1.jpg

I have been asked why I never post my name, art or any personal information on carlsbadcrawl.com. I am answering that question along with any others you, the readers, can dish out.

A full interview with your questions, along with photos of all my most recent work, will be posted in the near future.

Here is your chance to probe carlsbadcrawl.com’s “the artist.” Write a question as a comment to submit it for the interview. Question my art technique, probe my background and dissect my beliefs…

I know you. I know your name. Hell, I know where you live. Nice graphic, except it makes you look decades older than you are!

    1. What inspired you when you were a child to make things in a creative way? And how? What were the roots of it ( could be anything)?

What are your top 3 favorite films? If you had to pick one film that you think best captures the true meaning of making art what would it be?

    1. You have to close down your studio. Your current work is no longer available to you. How do you think your creativity would express itself?

    2. You have been selected to go on an all expense paid drinking binge for 3 days with historical figures, an artist, a writer and one free choice. Who are your drinking buddies?

    3. What do you think about the commonly held notion that creativity is linked to madness?

    4. How do you feel about street art and having it available to view in books, galleries and museums?

5.What advice would you give to an artist just starting out?

What role did your parents play in what you do/how you turned out?

Who were/are your mentors and why did you choose them?

Are you more stimulated by staying in your natural habitat (Carlsbad) or by going elsewhere?

How have your travels impacted your work?

Does coming back to live in the place where you grew up affect your process/work? If yes – how?

What’s your take on your college degree coursework – did you find it limiting to have assignments? Liberating? Somewhere in between?

I know you used to shoot a lot of disposable 35mm film cameras – your thoughts on that “medium” and do you still do it now that everything’s gone digital?

Oscar Wilde once said, ” Vice and Virtue are to the artist materials for art.”

As an artist, what are your vices, and accordingly, your virtues, that you think might inspire your art?
