Art connects people… it’s a friendly nod, a hearty handshake and an inspirational conversation into the early morning. The goal of our projects is to connect the people who visit and live in our neighborhoods with the beauty of our village.

Mike and Ralene, from Palm Desert, found a Bonus Egg on Easter morning this year. They followed the instructions and were the first of 3 lucky Bonus Egg finders to identify the Village Sound. Their Blue Wave painting will soon be hung in their Carlsbad beachside home.

Our village is a masterpiece. A wide variety of local pubs and restaurants thrive with excitement 7 days a week and a handful of treasures can be found in any one of the many antique stores. Shady streets pave the way for mid mermday meanders and an ice cream, sushi or frozen yogurt is just a short crawl away.

For the past 3 years carlsbadcrawl has added creativity to our nearly perfect village streets. Art connects people and each of our projects is a way to unite our community while showcasing local business, friendships and the simple beauties of our village by the sea. We encourage locals and visitors to use our projects as an excuse to wander the streets, browsing local businesses and exchanging friendly smiles.

“A special thanks to all the participants of this year’s Plant an Egg project. This is a gift from us to you!

The sun stretches low as a crisp Christmas morning in the Carlsbad village invites families and friends. Children bundled up in fuzzy sweaters trample down the shady sidewalks and parents sip their first cup. City workers rake leaves and pick up debris as an observant child stares into a tree. A crafted ornament in purples and pink sways in the morning breeze. The child is lifted into the branches where he plucks his observation.

PROJECT: Plant a Joke- a creative afFair

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

4

Thousands of locals and Carlsbad guests crawled the village streets during this year’s November Village Street Fair. The sun quickly awoke and danced high in the blue sky above hundreds of vendors. While sneakers scampered upon hot asphalt, crowing poultry scratched in the shady village landscaping…

create15 individually painted roosters used the village streets as their stage; each one crowing the answer to a child friendly joke or riddle. Fair visitors were encouraged to visit Snyder Art to pick up a list of 15 jokes, prompting a search for each rooster and their corresponding answer.

As the sun itched its tired eyes, families returned to Snyder Art to pick up FREE t shirts and to share stories of their searches…

“This project made us visit every part of the fair, something we have never done in the past.”

“We were able to shop longer because our son didn’t want to leave until he found them all.”

“I watched people look at it all day. It made my job more enjoyable.”
- fair security

“We loved this project… and so did our kids!”
